We provide advice and assistance to care home owners, home care agency operators, and managers across England. We can help you achieve your goals quickly and effectively in the following areas:

  • Registration:  advising throughout the process of new registrations and variations; avoiding costly mistakes with "new build" homes


  • Regulation and Ratings:   assisting and supporting homes facing regulatory challenges, such as enforcement action and adverse inspection reports and ratings including the Factual Accuracy correction and ratings appeal process. We advise on each service´s ability to demonstrate addressing the CQC´s five Key Questions of Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-Led embodied in the November 2017 Key Lines of Enquiry (KLOEs). We can also assist with essential documentation such as the Provider Information Return / Collection (PIRs / PICs), and all statutory notifications.


  • Management and Quality Assurance:  advising on the operation of care homes to achieve the highest quality of service for residents, and assuring the quality of care to ensure the CQC´s five Key Questions and KLOE are successfully addressed. In addition to providing the tools to implement a full quality assurance system, our ´RFC Dependency System´ is widely used by both nursing and residential care homes providing a simple means of converting resident need into staffing levels. We have our own care planning system used in more than 60 care homes.


  • Complaints, Incidents and Safeguarding:  investigating and resolving difficult complaints; assisting with incidents involving serious injury, safeguarding and Coroner´s Inquests.


  • Contracts and Marketing:  assisting with the negotiation of contracts with commissioners of care, and with reinstatement of suspended contracts; maximising the home´s income; advertising. The RFC Dependency System has been used to justify care costings to local authorities and NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs).


  • Staff Training:  training owners, managers and staff on the requirements of the legislation. We specialise in training staff in person-centred care planning.


  • Employment Issues:  staff selection, advising on checks including Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) disclosures, staff records, capability and disciplinary procedures. Please note that we are not employment experts but as experienced registered nurses we can bring our experience to this area.


We have established a considerable reputation since establishing the consultancy in 1999, and we are the only consultants recommended by the Registered Nursing Home Association.
